How to Choose the Right Branding Method for Your Business
Embroidery vs Screen Printing vs Sublimation
Choosing the right branding method for your business depends on your fabric, budget, and how the garments will be used. If you’ve ever wondered whether embroidery, screen printing, dye-sublimation, or DTF printing is the best option, you’re not alone. It’s one of the most common questions we get from clients in Pietermaritzburg.
Each method has its strengths, and choosing the right one can make a big difference to how your brand looks and lasts.
Embroidery. Best for a Premium, Long-Lasting Finish
Embroidery is stitched directly into the fabric, which makes it incredibly durable. It does not fade, peel, or crack over time.
Best for:
• Corporate uniforms
• Golf shirts and caps
• Hospitality and medical wear
It gives a raised, textured finish that immediately looks professional and high-end.
Screen Printing. Best for Large Volumes and Bold Designs
Screen printing is a cost-effective option, especially for bulk orders.
Best for:
• T-shirts
• Event merchandise
• Promotional items
It works well for bold, simple designs, but over time the print may fade or crack with repeated washing.
Dye-Sublimation. Best for Sportswear and Full-Colour Designs
Dye-sublimation fuses the design into the fabric itself, making it ideal for performance wear.
Best for:
• Sports teams
• Running shirts
• Custom full-colour designs
The result is lightweight, breathable clothing with vibrant colours that will not peel or fade.
DTF Printing. Best for Smaller Orders and Full-Colour Detail
DTF printing is another option and offers a full-colour print which is ironed onto the garment. It allows for intricate designs and gives you more freedom, as you are not restricted by the number of colours you can use.
This is a great option for smaller orders and works especially well when you want to print detailed artwork or even pictures, as long as the original image is high resolution.
Which Branding Method Is Right for You?
